Dorothy Geraldine Evans Moore passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Tyler Colonial Nursing Home in Tyler, at age 96.

She was born in Bluewater, New Mexico, on January 23, 1919, to Samuel Stewart Evans and Adela Amanda Ramsel Evans. She grew up in Mertzon, about 30 miles south of San Angelo. She earned a degree in business at the Texas Women's University in Denton and then got a job in College Station where she met and married Gordon Sydney Moore on February 9, 1943.

Dorothy Geraldine Evans Moore passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Tyler Colonial Nursing Home in Tyler, at age 96.

She was born in Bluewater, New Mexico, on January 23, 1919, to Samuel Stewart Evans and Adela Amanda Ramsel Evans. She grew up in Mertzon, about 30 miles south of San Angelo. She earned a degree in business at the Texas Women's University in Denton and then got a job in College Station where she met and married Gordon Sydney Moore on February 9, 1943.

She had two sons, Robert Edward Moore and Paul Louis Moore. She and Gordon moved to Houston in 1955. She decided to be a school teacher and got an education degree from the University of Houston. She taught elementary grades for 10 years.

After Gordon died on May 21, 1982, she began traveling. She visited China, Russia, the Balkans, Europe, Egypt, Israel, the Caribbean, Canada, Alaska and Mexico. She was an artist and visited the art colony in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she lived for more than 12 years.

Her son Paul died August 22, 2004. She is survived by her son, Robert Moore and his wife Darlene Moore; and two grandchildren, Chris and Carey Moore.

Memorial services will be held at the Midlothian Cemetery pavilion on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 2:00 P.M.
