She was born December 30, 1971 at Webb AFB Hospital in Big Spring and spent her early childhood in Odessa. Thanet grew up and lived in Bryan-College Station from 1979 until 2008. She attended Bryan public schools. She had post high school education at Blinn College where she was in Psi Beta psychology honor society and later at Odessa College and Baylor University.

At the age of 15 she was a volunteer team member to communist Poland with Teen Missions International and later returned to be a team leader for a team to Russia. Thanet taught private piano lessons and lead an ensemble group at state competition. She attended Scott and White EMT training and worked briefly as an EMT.

In 2010 she became a flight attendant with Express Jet Airlines and was based in Newark, NJ. She later became a consultant for BeautiControl. All of these efforts were expressions of her heart for people. She was always concerned for others and wanted to help others. Her relationships with others embodied God's love that she had grown to know in her heart.
